A Montgomery County couple has been charged with starving their 6-year-old son.
Victor and Olifa Ramos, of Bridgeport, are accused of nearly starving their young son to death.
Prosecutors say the boy was admitted to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia weighing just 29 pounds.
Doctors told the parents he needed emergency care months ago. But they allegedly failed to give the boy the help he needed.
"They neglected to seek medical care," said Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Samantha Cauffman. "The child was near death. He didn't get that way overnight. It took time for his condition to worsen to such a severe state."
Victor and Olifa Ramos are scheduled to be in court Thursday for a preliminary hearing.
Investigators say the 6-year-old is in protective custody.
