Sandusky Receiving Pension Checks As He Sits In Jail

Posted: Updated:

Jerry Sandusky is getting paid while he sits in jail.

According to the Patriot-News of Harrisburg, Sandusky's pension is about $59,000 per year.

The fact that Sandusky is receiving pension checks from the state is angering many people in the Commonwealth and beyond.

The Pennsylvania State Public Employee Pension System isn't saying for sure if Sandusky will lose his retirement benefits after he's sentenced.

According to state law, a pension can only be forfeited for Act 140 crimes - like extortion and bribery.

Sandusky also collected a $148,000 lump sum when he retired from Penn State in 1999.
