Thief Stealing Bronze Memorial Flag Holders From Graves

Posted: Updated:

In this country, we make sure to properly honor the men and women who serve us, many times by marking their graves. But clearly, there are some who have no respect for our nation's heroes.

A thief is stealing these bronze memorial flag holders from graves here Chester County.

Police believe it's an attempt to make money off the dead.

Adam is disgusted a thief is ripping off dead veterans at St. Agnes cemetery. He said a prayer after coming to check and finding the bronze flag holder on his granddad's grave site wasn't touched.

About 60 of these bronze memorial flag holders were stolen from grave sites at the cemetery.

West Goshen township police estimate they're worth at least a couple thousand dollars.

Area scrap yards told police no ones tried to sell them but they're on alert.

Maureen Joyce's father and grandfather are two of the hundreds of deceased vets buried in this cemetery but hasn't been able to check on her families' graves.

The thefts were first reported Monday. Each memorial marks the year or war a veteran served.

Now the same men and women who defended our freedom are in need of protection from someone who might be trying to cash in on our dead veterans.

Grounds keeper says what's happening is downright disrespectful.
