Customers Claim Fraud Over Africa Trip Booking

Posted: Updated:

Dozens of people say they were ripped off when they booked a trip to Africa with a Philadelphia travel agent.

Now, the police are involved, and frustrated customers say they want their money back.

An employee at the Africano Travel in Southwest Philadelphia took more than $100,000 from customers.

Police believe there may be as many as 60 victims dating back to February.

The employee duped customers by using a fake website to confirm their reservations.

"She sends you a link saying it's confirmed, has date, provide meals, all that good stuff," customer Ashley Rankine said.

The owner of the travel agency says he has fired the employee. He has offered to pay for half of the customers' flights if they want to rebook.

FOX 29's Lauren Cohn has more details in this video report.
