Forest Fire Breaks Out In Burlington County

Posted: Updated:

Extreme heat is making it hard for fire crews to fight flames spreading through a South Jersey forest.

SkyFOX was live Thursday night where 50 acres were burning in the Wharton State Forest in the Hammonton area.

We're hearing the 25-acre fire started near the Goshen Pond Campsite around 4 p.m., but its' estimated that the blaze could grow to roughly 200 acres.

SkyFOX live over the scene around 6 p.m. and again at 10 p.m. showed flames in the trees.

As of Thursday night, the fire was concentrated in a wooded area, so there is no danger to homes.

As of now, there's no word on a possible cause.

We'll keep our eye on this and bring you updates as we get them.
