Pit Bull Puppy Found Burned In West Oak Lane; Reward Offered

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The search is on for the heartless person who set a puppy on fire and left him to die.

Someone brought the pit bill to the Pennsylvania SPCA after they discovered him in Philadelphia's West Oak Lane neighborhood.

The dog, named "Hercules" by SPCA staff, was reported to be in serious condition, but vets expect him to survive.

So far, there's no word on any suspects. This is the second dog set on fire in the past couple weeks.

On Friday, it was announced that a $5,000 reward fund has been set up in the name of Hercules.

A $5,000 reward fund is also posted for the first dog that was set on fire, Chloe.  Unfortunately, little Chloe succumbed to her injuries and died last week.

The SPCA continues to investigate both of these tragic cases.

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday.  That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
