PHILADELPHIA -

"We waited for this day to come for almost three years. It's been nothing but sadness and grief," said Terry Bowen, overwhelmed by the phone call she received Friday.

"I want them to get life in jail. They took my son's life and their life needs to be taken too," she said.

The District Attorney's office announced Friday the arrest and charges against ex-Philadelphia Police Sergeant Chauncey Ellison, Sr. and his then girlfriend ex-police officer Robin Fortune.

Investigators say Ellison shot 20-year old Lawrence Allen in the back in November of 2008. Fortune allegedly encouraged him.

It was all over a pizza. Investigators say Ellison and Fortune were off duty at the time when they went out looking for another person who Ellison's son said had robbed him and took his pizza. The victim, Lawrence Allen was trying to diffuse the situation when he was shot.

"I miss my brother every day and when I see his kids, it's the hardest thing ever. But I'm taking the steps to accept the fact that he's not here," said Allen's sister Ebony, as she broke down in tears.

Allen was a husband with three young children. His wife Rosie is encouraged by the arrests but still too overcome by sadness to speak.

Loren, the victim's other sister says as days go by it gets a little better for her. But she says she's not completely healed over the tragedy. She was there when her brother was shot.

"I don't have pictures, I don't have anything. I don't any remembrances. I just want to leave it where it's at until I can say I'm completely happy."

The family plans to be at every court appearance and trial date for the two charged with taking their loved one's life. The victim's mother say their strength comes from their faith.

"I did suffer a loss that I won't get back but being a woman of god I have accepted the fact that my son is gone and I can't get him back."
