Man Charged in Millville Officer's Death

Cumberland Co. Prosecutors have charged a man in a crash that killed a police officer from Millville Sunday morning. Officer Christopher Reeves was killed while on duty around 2:15 a.m. Reeves was an eight-year veteran with the department.

Investigators say his cruiser collided with another car at the intersection of North Third and Broad Streets. Police have charged 23 year old Timothy Seidel. They say he was running from the cops because he was wanted for motor vehicle violations. Seidel is hospitalized. He faces charges of agg. manslaughter, eluding, vehicular homicide and more.

Another officer was also hurt in the crash. Patrolman Johnathan Seidel (no relation to the accused) is in the hospital in stable condition.

The funeral for Reeves will be Friday from 10am to 1pm at Lakeside Middle School at High and Sharp streets. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery on Route 49. 

Also, the Millville Policeman's Benevolent Assn. has set up a fund for Reeves' family. Donations can be sent to the 'Officer Christopher Reeves Fund' at PO Box 1142, Millville, NJ 08332. Reeves wife is also a Millville Police Officer. In addition to her, he leaves behind a 2 year old son.

Another police officer was killed overnight Sunday in Philadelphia. Officer Brian Lorenzo was driving his police motorcycle home when he was struck by a driver going to wrong way down Interstate 95.
