Freeh Report Likely Critical of PSU Officials

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

A knowledgeable source tells FOX 29 that Pennsylvania State University leaders have not seen the Louis Freeh report and expect to read it at the same time the public does, 9 a.m. Thursday.

Law enforcement and legal sources are convinced it will be devastating to the commonwealth's storied university and may tarnish the reputation of legendary football coach Joe Paterno.

Philadelphia Attorney Tom Kline represents a victim of convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky.  He says the attack on his client "could have been stopped dead in its tracks had university officials taken the appropriate action to stop Mr. Sandusky."

Sources with knowledge of the inner workings of the probe and Penn State's likely response would not speak on the record in the hours leading up to its release.

But Philadelphia Distract Attorney Seth Williams, while attending a yearly meeting of state prosecutors, said sources with knowledge of state investigations and the Freeh probe expect the former FBI director to be highly critical of not only Paterno but former university president Graham Spanier, former athletic director Tim Curley and former University vice president Gary Schultz.

The report will likely claim wagons were circled to shield the University rather than protect victims and expose Sandusky.
