Caught On Tape: Women Steal Disabled Woman's Walker With Child In Tow

PHILADELPHIA -

Edith Steele giggles like a school girl talking about what she called Christmas in July.

"He said you have a medical delivery. I cheered saying I'm going to be independent again."

A new four wheel walker gave her that independence.

After weeks of waiting it finally showed up at her Philadelphia house Tuesday

But Wednesday after using it for just a day, a  couple of grinches stole her joy.

"They took away her legs," said her daughter referring to the walker. These are my moms legs."

Video caught  two thieves  stealing the 85-year-old grandmother's walker.

It happened right in  front of her daughter's  practice on S.16th.

The theft robbed Edith  of one of the things she cherishes most..her independence.

"It makes you a human being otherwise your a vegetable. If you have to depend on

people for your bare necessities just walking, you give up! You really don't want to go on."

Edith suffers from Scoliosis and just underwent hip replacement surgery.

She can't navigate Philly's cracked and lumpy sidewalks to go to the store  without her walker.

Inside the house she's forced to lean  on walls to get around.

Sure, it's an inconvenience..

But what bothers her most about the crime.

The  two women stole the walker while apparently pushing a child in a stroller.

"They're  going to be teaching  the next generation to steal and that really bothered me very much."
