Hydroplane races return to Detroit River this weekend

The ABP Gold Cup Races return to the Detroit River July 13-15.

Fans on Friday can watch drivers practice and qualify with free entry to the General Admission areas. Saturday and Sunday are race days.

General Admission is $15 to $45, Reserved Seating begins at $60.

UPDATE 7/14/2012: We're told the top 3 qualifiers are the Spirit of Qatar driven by Dave Villwock at a top speed of 162.904, Oh Boy! Oberto driven by Steve David at a top speed of 161.789 and Graham Trucking driven by Jimmy Shane at a top speed of 157.184.
