Man Tries To Lure Children In Gloucester County Neighborhood

SICKLERVILLE, N.J. -

Parents are terrified about an attempted child luring incident in their neighborhood.

"I was at work. I had called my mother and said don't let the children outside," says Lisa Fetterman. That was her first reaction when she got a text from a neighbor about a man who tried to get to two young girls on her block to go with him.

"I told my mother, if they go outside make sure you watch them get to their friends house. Don't have them playing out front let them play in the backyard." Fetterman has two girls. Her oldest daughter Savannah is six. That's the same age as one of the victims.

Gloucester Township police say a six and nine year old girl told their parents that a man in a rusted red colored van yelled hey come here to them. The girls were sitting on their porch on Coralberry Drive in the Mayfair Meadows neighborhood of Sicklerville. It happened around nine Thursday night. The news is frightening to Steve and Adria Keppel

"It's scary. It's a concern," says Steve Keppel. Their daughter is two years old.

"I want to be able to play out here freely without the worry. This is a nice neighborhood. It's a shame we have to worry about these things," says wife Adria.

police left fliers on doors in the area reminding people to help keep their neighborhoods safe.

Lisa Fetterman says she had a mature talk with her young daughters after the incident.

"Not all people are nice. Some people want to hurt you, they want to take you away from mommy and daddy and even if they say they know your name if you don't know them, you go to the nearest house you know."

Gloucester Township Police say the suspect is a white man, 40-50 years old with a gray and dark colored hair. He is partially balding. He was driving a rusted red colored work van with side and back tinted windows. If you know anything call police at 856-842-5560.
