West Philly Residents Worried About Open Manhole

Posted: Updated:

For several weeks, West Philadelphia residents living at Wanamaker and Arch Streets have been trying to get an open manhole closed after the cover came off.

The block captain there told FOX29 a school bus somehow knocked the manhole cover off, exposing a potential 5-foot fall for any of the small children that live in the neighborhood.

"Little kids are running around.  They are very curious.  They could fall in easily," said India Brown, who was surprised to see the open hole when she was visiting family in the area.

FOX29 called the Philadelphia Streets Department and left messages for officials about the situation. We will keep working to help the West Philadelphia residents get the manhole cover fixed.
