PSU Football Players Speak Out Ahead of NCAA Sanctions

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Penn State University student athletes are speaking out a day ahead of the NCAA's "corrective and punitive measures" set to be announced against the storied football program.

The Nittany Lions stand to lose participation rights in future bowl games, and may even lose several scholarships, following a report documenting a cover-up of the Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse scandal by top former university figures.

This list includes former head coach, the late Joe Paterno and ousted University President Graham Spanier.

The sanctions have many asking if players will leave for another school team.  Several took to social media sites to pledge their support for Penn State.

Offensive tackle Donovan Smith Tweeted: "Stop asking if im transferring im staying at PSU no matter what I love my school #WeAre."

Tight end Garry Gilliam wrote: "No matter what happens I'm staying at Penn State ..."

NCAA officials are set to announce their measures against Penn State during a 9 a.m. Monday press conference in Indianapolis.

FOX 29's Omari Fleming will be reporting live from Penn State starting at 6 a.m.
