2nd Suspect In Custody After Home Invasion At Cop's House

PHILADELPHIA -
A pair of early-morning burglary suspects picked the wrong house to target early Monday morning, police said.
Northwest Detectives tell us one home invasion suspect was shot dead by the homeowner, who is an off-duty Warminster Township police officer. The second suspect was taken into custody later in the morning
According to police, the two suspects tried to break into the off-duty officer's home on the 8200 block of Sagamore Road in the city's Andorra neighborhood around 4 a.m.
Police said the officer – who has 10 years with Philadelphia Housing Authority police and 13 years on the force in Warminster – got his family to safety before searching for one of the suspects.
The officer, who was not immediately named, found one suspect in a back bedroom, identified himself as a police officer, told the man to raise his hands and fired when he did not comply, police said.
The second suspect allegedly took off in the family's van. But FOX 29 News has learned that another off-duty officer, this one from Philadelphia's 14th District, spotted the fleeing suspect and called 911.
Police recovered the family's van on Old Line Road, about four blocks from where the home invasion occurred, and the suspect who had allegedly run away from there was arrested near the Valley Green Inn.
The off-duty Warminster officer, his wife and four kids are reported to be OK, FOX 29's Dave Schratwieser reported.
According to police, this appears to be a random incident, as there has not been a pattern of burglaries in the area, but they are continuing to investigate.
