PHILADELPHIA -

Police are seeking the public's help to identify the man who was seen on a pharmacy's surveillance video stealing a 75-year-old woman's purse from her cart.

It happened on July 13 around 6:30 p.m. The victim told police she had just left the bank, where she had withdrawn $2,700 from her savings account.

As the woman was inside a CVS, located at 1826 Chestnut Street, a man began following her in the store.

When the woman stepped away from her cart to look at an item, the man can be seen walking by the cart pulling it with him, taking the black handbag that contained the cash withdrawal from the bank along with various identification.

The alleged thief then left the store and headed away in an unknown direction. He's described as being black, between the ages of 40 and 50, 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 230 pounds. Police said he's bald with stubble on his face, and he was wearing a red T-shirt with YMCA on front and the number "5" on the back in white lettering, along with tan shorts, white socks and white sneakers.

Police aid that if you see the man, do not approach him. Contact 911 immediately. To submit a tip over the telephone, dial 215-686-TIPS (8477), you can text a tip to PPD TIP (773847), or you can use this electronic form to submit a tip anonymously.
