Restaurant Owner Accused Of Torturing Kittens

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

A man is under arrest for the heartless crime of torturing defenseless kittens.

Philadelphia police say 25-year-old Yu Zhen Chen was caught on tape hurting the animals at his Chinese food restaurant.

Police were investigating a shooting when they saw surveillance video reportedly showing Chen throwing kittens in the air, swinging them violently and rolling them on the ground like a ball in the alley behind the red star restaurant in Logan.

Chen could really pay if convicted.

"At the end of the day, if he is found guilty he could be looking a couple of years in jail and he could be looking at up to $8,000 in fines," said George Bengal, director of law enforcement at the Pennsylvania SPCA.

Some of the kittens and their mother were found and taken to the SPCA. We are happy to report they are doing just fine.

And, once the kittens get a little older, they will be available for adoption.
