Young cancer patient celebrates Christmas in July

DEARBORN, Mich. (WJBK) -

Six-year-old Gracie missed out on Christmas last year because of cancer, so Angels of Hope and Channel 95.5 Mojo in the Morning teamed up to give her a July Christmas she'd never forget.

"There's nothing worse than a child not being able to have a Christmas," said Mojo. "The coolest thing about Gracie is that she has been battling, getting better and Santa wants to be here with her -- we want to bring her Christmas."

Channel 955 helped to decorate her home in Christmas attire and the Detroit Red Wings, her favorite hockey team, provided gift bags.

"When you're diagnosed with cancer, it turns your whole life around," said Bill Wylonis from Angels of Hope. "When you can do an event like this that will take that emotion away from them for a while, just for one day, for a few minutes and let them think about something else besides cancer, it's just a great feeling."
