Are Phillies Selling? Trade Deadline Looms At 4 P.M.

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Time is running out for the Phillies to pull off any trades before the deadline.

It appears they were getting offers Monday. Maybe they just wanted to sleep on them.

Reports say the San Francisco Giants are still looking at outfielder Hunter Pence, but the asking price by the Phillies could be too high.

Pence will earn about $14 million next year.

Starting pitcher Joe Blanton could be heading to Baltimore. Reports say the Phillies have made "Big Joe" available, and the asking price is not much.

Other reports say the Phils are looking for a young infielder or some bullpen help.

This may be the easiest deal for the Phillies to pull off before the deadline.

Another starting pitcher, Cliff Lee, is still not going anywhere.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports says the Rangers were hoping the Phillies would pick up some of the $87.5 million still left on Lee's contract, but the Phillies need to get cash.

The trade deadline is 4 p.m. Tuesday.
