PHILADELPHIA -

We all know driving and texting is dangerous, but walking and texting can be just as bad.

Now, the City of Philadelphia is getting ready to launch a new campaign to wake folks up.

The number of people showing up at emergency rooms because they got hurt walking and using a cell phone has quadrupled in the last seven years, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

A massive ad campaign is being developed to stop distracted walking in Philadelphia.

Signs at busy intersections will warn people to look up.

"You will see most people walk right across the street without lifting their head up from their electronic devices."

A similar campaign has already been started in Wilmington, Del.

The campaign to stop distracted walking in Philadelphia will begin next spring.
