Different Kind Of 'Campaign' Descends On Philly

Posted: Updated:

Sure, 2012 is a presidential election year, but there's a different kind of "campaign" under way. Doesn't matter if you really like politics.

Independence Mall was the place to be Tuesday as two rival candidates, hundreds of rabid supporters and a highly-publicized event had our political reporter, Bruce Gordon, all revved up.

The crowd of mostly young people raced into the National Constitution Center to get a good look at the candidates – as in actors Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis, stars of the new movie "The Campaign."

It's a spoof on the nasty politics we've come to expect in this country. After all, a generation raised on "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" already believes the worst about our real candidates.

So, the movie stars put their John Hancocks on a commemorative Constitution and, like real politicians, heaped insincere praise on their host city, FOX 29's Bruce Gordon says in this video report.

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday.  That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
