Car Crashes Into Four Pedestrians in Pottstown

Posted: Updated:
POTTSTOWN, Pa. -

David Gofus knew something was wrong when he heard a big bang while at work at Argento's Pizza and Family Restaurant in Pottstown.

"I was in the shop and I came running out the door to see what was going on," he said.

He found a car crashed into the front window of the restaurant.  He also saw a family of four injured, including a 22-year-old man with what he described as serious injures.

He said he grabbed several items from the shop to keep the man from bleeding.

"I used the strings from one of the aprons to tie off his arm and I started stuffing rags around his leg and into the wound of the arm," Gofus said.

Pottstown Police said it began when a woman driving a Toyota lost control of the vehicle, jumped the curb, and then hit the pedestrians.

Police did question her.  The victims were all transported to Reading Hospital and Medical Center.  The 22-year-old was upgraded to stable condition.  Names and conditions of the others were not released.
