Condolences Offered To Reids After Garrett's Death

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

People across the country are sending condolences to Eagles head coach Andy Reid and his family after the tragic passing of his oldest son, Garrett.

The 29-year-old was found dead inside his room at Eagles' training camp at Lehigh University early Sunday morning.

Police are reporting no suspicious circumstances surrounding Garrett's death.

You may recall he has a past history of drug problems, including serving time for a 2007 car crash while driving under the influence, but lately he seemed to have rebounded from his problems.

There's no official cause of death at this time.

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie says Reid intends to be back coaching this week, possibly on time for Thursday night's game.

Some of the biggest names in football are tweeting about Garrett Reid's death.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said, "Our thoughts and prayers are with Andy, Tammy and their family. We will support them and the Eagles in any way we can through this difficult time."

Former Eagles great Brian Dawkins tweeted, "My prayers for strength and healing father, for coach Reid, Tammy and family. RIP Garrett!"

Former Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb gave this statement: "I was both shocked and saddened when I heard the news of Garrett's passing. I spent a lot of time with Andy and his family. We had a great friendship and we still do. My heart goes out to Andy, Tammy and the rest of the Reid family."

The Phillies and their fans paused to remember Garrett Reid on Sunday. There was a moment of silence before the game against the Diamondbacks.
