Garrett Reid Being Laid To Rest Today In Broomall

Posted: Updated:

Funeral services for Garrett Reid are taking place on Tuesday morning.

The eldest son of Eagles head coach Andy Reid's will be laid to rest at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Broomall, Delaware County, at 10 a.m.

The 29-year-old was found dead inside a Lehigh University dorm room at Eagles training camp early Sunday morning.

Police say there is no indication of suicide of foul play, but the exact cause of death is yet to be determined.

Garrett has been working for the Eagles as a strength and conditioning coach since his release from prison in 2009, following a troubled past involving drug addiction.

The Reid family issued the following statement Monday on Garrett's passing:

"He faced tremendous personal challenges with bravery and spirit. As a family, we stood by him and were inspired as he worked to overcome those challenges. Even though he lost the battle that has been ongoing for the last eight years, we will always remember him as a fighter who had a huge, loving heart."

"We loved Garrett so much. He was a wonderful son and brother. He made us laugh, he was a pleasure to be around, he always had a smile on his face, and we will miss him dearly. We will never forget him, and we will remember him with love."

For the Eagles, the practices continued Monday with coordinators Marty Mornhinweg and Juan Castillo in charge.

The whole team will join Reid and his family at Garrett funeral Tuesday.

Andy Reid talked with the players and told them to keep moving forward, and players said they're listening.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Laurel House, P.O. 764, Norristown, Pa. 19404. Tammy Reid has worked with the charity over the years.

FOX 29's Stephanie Esposito had more details in this video report from Broomall on Tuesday morning.
