NORRISTOWN, Pa. -
Gunmen opened fire a Montgomery county neighborhood on Tuesday morning, hitting homes and smashing windows.
One of the cars at Arch and East Moore streets in Norristown was riddled with bullets.
Inside one car, cops found a woman tied up in the trunk, FOX 29's Stephanie Salvatore reported from the scene.
Right now that woman is being treated for her injuries. Police say she was pistol-whipped and had her hands tied.
Three men with gunshot wounds are also in the hospital, and cameras showed one man in custody at the police station. Whether all four men are suspects remains to be seen.
"It came through the window, hit this wall, came through that wall and stopped right here," said Jamar Baird.
One of many bullets fired in this morning's early shooting in Norristown came right through Baird's home.
The chaotic shooting left three men injured and countless others in this neighborhood now in fear.
"It's scary. It's scary, you know? I mean, we've got kids that play all day long out here … and for them to bring that down here, they're just ignorant, man," Baird said.
Police said they heard the gunfight from the station. When they arrived they found one man with bullet wounds lying in the street and two others injured inside a home.
Even more disturbing was that police found a woman beaten and bound inside the trunk of a car that had been shot several times.
Beside her was a machine gun that police believe was just one of the weapons used in the shooting.
"Obviously, it's very concerning to us," Norristown Police Chief Russell Bono said. "We take a zero approach on this kind of stuff. We have been trying to crack down on violence."
Neighbors say incidents like this on an otherwise quiet street speaks to the direction the city could be headed.
"It's getting bad. It's getting real bad to see this happening," said Delmar Culbreath. "Innocent kids and people that ain't have nothing to do with he circumstances, and their life is at risk. That's telling me this block is getting really bad."
Police believe the woman is one of the victims' girlfriends, and at least two of the three wounded are from the Philadelphia area.
Police have not been able to speak with some of the shooting victims in the hospital because of their conditions. One had surgery Tuesday morning.
Once investigators are able to talk to the wounded, they hope to be able to fill in some of the holes of an otherwise spotty situation.
