Hundreds Say Goodbye To Andy Reid's Son

Posted: Updated:
BROOMALL, Pa. -

It was a touching tribute in Delaware County as hundreds came to say goodbye to the oldest son of Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid.

Garrett Reid, 29, died suddenly on Sunday in a Lehigh University dorm room during training camp.

Two families were grieving Tuesday over the loss, both the Reids and the entire NFL family.

On Tuesday, more than 900 people paid respects to the Reids at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Broomall. The Reids are longtime members of the Mormon Church.

Outside, NFL greats from across the country waited for hours to pay their respects.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and the entire staff from the Eagles' locker room and front office were there.

The Cleveland Browns chartered an airplane for their players to pay their respects.

During the services, Andy Reid was said to be a rock. His wife, Tammy, greeted everyone at the door, and Garrett's sister, Crosby, sang "My Heavenly Father Loves Me."

Garrett was buried with a football.

It was a who's who of the NFL inside. But outside was a smaller display of support from the Eagles nation who wanted the Reids to see their love, too.

In lieu of flowers, the Reid family was asking for donations to be sent to the Laurel House, a non-profit that Tammy Reid has done work with that helps victims of domestic violence. Donations by mail can be sent to P.O. Box 764, Norristown, Pa. 19404.
