Camden Mayor Plans To Lay Off Entire Police Force

Posted: Updated:
CAMDEN, N.J. -

One of America's most dangerous cities is going to lay off its entire police force.

Camden's mayor is finalizing the plan to do so by year's end.

So, how will the city be protected? The city wants to outsource its police force to a countywide system.

The president of the Fraternal Order of Police says city brass caused the problem when they laid off half of the police force.

"Now, a year and a half later, when the crime conditions and crime numbers are off the charts, their solution is to get rid of the police department. That's absolutely ridiculous," Camden FOP President John Williamson said.

FOX 29's Stephanie Esposito was live in Camden on Wednesday morning with the details.
