Four People Injured By Fallen Tree

Posted: Updated:

Maurice Weary yelled for help, fearing the worst when he witnessed a  tree come crashing down.

It landed on four people,  ages 15 to 39, during a block party on the 1600 block of West Juniata.

"It was a big pop and after that the tree came right down."

The impact dazed Weary's 34-year-old sister Quiana.

She was hosting the block party for her young son's birthday.

"It was all of a sudden," said Quiana. "I  didn't know what was going on after that

Quiana showed us her hospital identification bracelet after she was treated for minor injuries to her back and shoulders. "I'm soar. Just soar."

A possible rotted tree trunk seems like it was no match for Saturday night's turbulent weather.

Weary's hoping the accident prompts the city to trim the trees and come clean up the mess.

"They gotta come fix the park up," he said twice for emphasis.

After nearly being taken out by a tree and spending part of her son's birthday in the hospital...Quiana's now walking with a minor limp at times, but  says she's just glad to be alive for her son's future birthdays.

"It could have been a lot worse but I'm glad it's not."

"The good thing is my sister is walking," says Weary. "It could have been worse...To see her walking this morning is a good thing. "
