Report: Christie Veepstakes Contender, Wouldn't Resign

Posted: Updated:

We now know who will stand with Mitt Romney, in his bid for the white house. But did he choose the right guy?

A source told the New York Post New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was high on the GOP presidential candidate's short list for running mates but refused to resign as governor in order to run.

Now the question is will Christie be the keynote speaker at the Republican National Convention in Tampa?

That announcement could reportedly come as early as Tuesday, the Post reports.

In a statement released by the Romney camp, Christie said the addition of Congressman Paul Ryan, of Wisconsin, to the ticket makes "a team that understands the economic stagnation our country has been facing the last four years and the urgency with which we need to change course."
