One Person Dead in Head On Crash With SEPTA Bus

Posted: Updated:

One person is dead and another in critical condition tonight, after the car in which they were driving slammed into a SEPTA bus.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Old York Road and Sparks Street just after 6PM Monday evening.  Witnesses say that a black car driving northbound on Old York Road and veered into the southbound lanes and struck a Route 55 SEPTA bus head-on.  The passenger of the black car died from injuries in the accident, while the driver of that vehicle was taken to Einstein Hospital and is in critical condition. There were 10 people injured on the bus and taken to local hospitals but are said to have non-life threatening injuries.

SEPTA says that they will review tapes of the accident sometime Tuesday as they continue to investigate what happened in the accident.
