MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

About five dozen people gathered outside the Minneapolis Club downtown on Tuesday to protest a $15,000 per person Mitt Romney fundraiser that features Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

Protest organizers say "a Romney economy makes the rich richer and the rest of us poorer." Demonstrators on Tuesday held signs with slogans like "Romney creates jobs in China" and "people before profits."

"Not only does Romney make his fortune off the misfortune of others, he doesn't even pay his fair share to support the country he wants to run," organizers with Minnesotans for a Fair Economy alleged. "Romney takes advantage of tax loopholes for the super rich which allow him to pay a lower tax rate than average working people and refuses to release his tax returns."

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Sen. Norm Coleman are serving as hosts of the fundraiser, which is open to those who have raised at least $15,000 for the Romney campaign.

Romney himself will be in the Twin Cities for an Aug. 23 fundraiser at the Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach. Admission for that event is $5,000 per couple or $2,500 per individual, and a $10,000 donation will get you a photo with the Republican presidential candidate.

A private fundraiser later that evening in Shorewood costs $50,000 per couple.
