A/C, Alarm System Broken When Police K9 Died In Hot Car

Posted: Updated:
CAMDEN, N.J. -

There's an update on the death of a Camden police dog last week inside a hot patrol car.

K-9 cars are equipped with systems to let officers know the car is overheating and, when it gets too hot, a fan is supposed to turn on and the windows are supposed to go down.

But officials now say the car's air-conditioner and alarm system were broken.

Serge was left in the car for two hours Thursday as temperatures rose to deadly levels.
