Fruit Truck Spills Thousands of Tangerines on I-76 During Crash

PHILADELPHIA -

What a mess!  I-76 Eastbound in Southwest Philadelphia was covered with tangerines when a fruit truck overturned during the Tuesday morning rush hour.

"(It was) like a big crash and then you see the truck just all the way down, turned over," said witness Qiana Andino.

We're just trying to clean it up and open up the highway so we can get out of here," said one PennDOT crew member.

The tractor trailer crashed around 9 a.m. during a huge part of the Schuylkill Expressways' busy morning commute.

It is not clear what caused the crash.  However, sources say the driver suffered minor injures.

Crews had the expressway partially reopened by the mid-afternoon and cleared up all of the fruit by 5pm, for the heavy volume of afternoon traffic.
