Mystery Solved After Birds Fall From Sky In NJ

Posted: Updated:
MILLVILLE, N.J. -

It sounds like something out of a movie: Birds falling from the sky in Cumberland County, N.J.

The bird-kill happened so fast and involved so many birds that nervous neighbors called 9-1-1, thinking there was something seriously wrong, fearing there was some sort of gas leak.

Hazardous materials crews were called out to test air quality and possible hazardous material leaks.

Finally, the teams located a nearby farmer who had used a pesticide on the birds that had been destroying his corn crop.

The farmer had all the proper licensing and did not violate any laws by using the pesticide.

FOX 29's Claudia Gomez has more details on what happened in this video report.
