Offers Of Help For Woman Barred From Feeding Hungry Kids

Posted: Updated:
CHESTER TWP., Pa. -

A local woman ran into a lot of red tape because she's feeding hungry children in her neighborhood.

Now, viewers are offering to help out.

FOX 29's Claudia Gomez had the update on this story, which you saw first Monday on FOX 29.

Angela Prattis works closely with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to provide lunch and snacks to these kids in Chester Township. The program is designed as a summer substitute for kids who rely on school lunches.

But township officials ordered her to stop, because it violated a zoning ordinance.

"They could be doing a whole lot of other things. You have houses here, the roofs are falling in," Prattis said. "I mean, they could be focused on a lot more serious issues, than me feeding children."

Prattis is planning to go before the zoning board to get a variance, a process that requires a $1,000 deposit.

Many of our viewers want to donate to help cover that cost.

A woman by the name of Tracy Mahoney in Houston, Texas, emailed to say: "Those wonderful children need to be feed. And God bless that woman for doing the Lord's work. If we can be of any help, please don't hesitate to contact us or pass our contact info along to that wonderful woman who has so much good in her soul."

And that's just one example of many, Gomez reported.
