James Geter spent Wednesday afternoon taking inventory inside his storage unit.
"They broke in mine," said Geter, holding an empty box. He's one of many people who thieves robbed in a brazen break in of dozens of storage units.
"I'm missing about 500 dollars worth of stuff already," he said.
Maple Shade police say between 9 Tuesday night and 6 o'clock Wednesday morning crooks backed a truck into a fence at the back of Public Storage on Fellowship Road. Once inside they cut the locks off 72 storage units, loaded and left.
Geter got the call from management after they discovered it Wednesday morning.
"They said that we needed to get to the facility before 6pm because of a break in and they needed out so come check out our units."
Another man who just put his stuff in storage a week ago because he's between moves heard what happened and rushed to check things out. He raised the door of his unit to find all his stuff still there.
"I'm very happy that everything is good," he said.
The property doesn't have security cameras or security guards but customers say management has an apartment on site at the front office and claims someone is here at all times. Not much of a comfort to customer Shawn Smith who's unit was spared, this time.
"If they're going to steal, they're going to steal. If they're going to get in, they're going to get in," said Smith.
Customers say the contract they signed states thefts and break ins are a risk at facilities like this so the facility might not be liable. Police urge everyone to fill out police reports in case stuff is found or pawned and they find it.
