NEWARK, Del. -

Interstate 95 in Delaware are now clear after a fatal crash that closed the southbound lanes in Newark for hours Thursday morning.

The crashed occurred in the early morning hours south of the Delaware toll plaza. It involved a tractor-trailer and a box truck with one reported fatality.

The scene was near Route 896, and that's the road onto which I-95 traffic was detoured throughout the morning rush hour.

Motorists were also being advised to use Route 4 and avoid the scene altogether as Delaware state police said they expected the interstate to remain closed for an extended period of time.
