Tattoo Helps Burn Victim Take Back His Life

CHADDS FORD, Pa. -

A local man says he can finally walk outside without fearing stares and whispers from people around him.

It's all thanks to a very generous woman and very special tattoo.

Skip DeHart suffered severe burns to his face in a fiery car crash in 1967. For years he has endured stares and comments from strangers, and he dreaded going out in public.

But that's all changed thanks to permanent tattoo artist Carmella Gibellino-Schultz.

She has been working on DeHart for the past year, tattooing flesh-toned ink right onto his face.

This process would normally cost about $250 per visit. But Gibellino-Schultz is not charging DeHart.

Dehart says he wanted to tell his story so other burn victims would have hope again.
