Fox 29 Gets Results for a group of Chester County families who were trying to save a program they call 'vital for their kids.'
Fox 29's Stephanie Esposito first brought you the story of Coatsville's Junior Air Force ROTC Program that was just days away from being canceled due to lack of funding.
They needed $157,000 by Monday to keep their program alive. On Wednesday, they announced the great news: This determined bunch of kids raised $172,000!
Some of the students in the program told Stephanie that the Jr. ROTC might be their only way into prestigious colleges or military academies, so they worked around the clock to make this happen. They turned to local companies, bucket brigades, silent auctions and toFox 29. After the story ran in Philadelphia , other Fox stations ran the story in cities across the country.
Following that exposure, donations soared. They made their goal on deadline!
The kids are thrilled and can wait to get back to school. They're already planning fundraisers for next year because they already know that their program will likely not be part of the school board's budget.
