Suspected Serial Burglar Arrested After Theft At CVS

PHILADELPHIA -

FOX 29 obtained exclusive video Friday of a suspected serial burglar who is under arrest.

Police say 44-year-old Daniel Haggard had been breaking into liquor stores and pharmacies in Bucks County and Northeast Philadelphia, stealing thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes.

On Friday, Philadelphia police explained how they were able to catch their man.

"He had become a suspect last night from a tip that Bensalem Township had. We are currently in the process of getting warrants in the townships and in Philadelphia, but he was caught before that could be done this morning," Sgt. Dennis Rosenbaum, of Northeast Detectives.

The final incident was around 4 a.m. at the CVS on the 9800 block of Bustleton Avenue. Police say it was Haggard who broke in and stole more cigarettes.

They say after he left CVS on Friday morning, he stole a van and then dumped it off and got on a bus.

Police followed that bus and caught Haggard when he got off of it. When he was caught Friday morning, he was allegedly carrying a bag filled with stolen cigarettes.

Haggard will be formally charged with at least six burglaries.
