PHILADELPHIA -
Police have released surveillance video of two people they're calling suspects in the murder of Officer Moses Walker Jr. Saturday in North Philadelphia.
A reward for information leading to an arrest in the case was up to $88,000 by late Monday afternoon, police said.
The surveillance video shows two men walking on the opposite side of Cecil B. Moore Avenue from Walker, who was off-duty.
The attempted robbery occurs farther down the street. Walker was fatally shot at this time.
Police said a third man, who is not suspected of having any involvement in the incident, is seen walking on the street and runs back toward the camera after the gunfire. Police have already spoken to that man.
"I realize that we don't have a real clear view of the suspects, but someone may know who they are, just by clothing, the way they walk, the fact that they may hang around the time of morning in that area on a regular basis," Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said during the news conference.
He added, "Let us decide whether or not any information you have is relevant. Do not decide that for yourself. If you know something, give us a call, and we'll follow up on it. Again, we need the help of the public to bring this to a successful conclusion."
Police had been searching for and confirmed Monday morning the arrest of another individual in a white vehicle. He has an open warrant for a similar case in the area.
"We don't know if he's one of these males or not, but he's obviously someone that we want to bring in, we want to talk to, and that's what we're going to do," Capt. James Clark of the department's homicide division said.
Anyone with information in the case is urged to call 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP, or 773847. You can also call the police department's homicide unit at 215-686-3334/3335.
The city has put forth $20,000 for the reward. The Fraternal Order of Police is offering $15,000, the Citizens Crime Commission has pledged $11,000, and various other groups, including the local firefighters' union and local police supporters, are contributing $5,000 each.
