Diner en Blanc: The Best Kept Secret In Philly

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Think flash mob, but substitute the "mob" for dozens of hungry diners – and it's supposed to happen in Philadelphia Thursday.

It's called "Diner en Blanc," a group of people who register to receive a last-minute invitation to an impromptu fine-dining experience.

Organizers in Philadelphia were expecting hundreds of diners for Thursday night's event.

Diners do not know where they will be dining until the last minute.

According to the group's website, there are dozens of similar events held around the world, from Vancouver to San Diego.

Organizers say the last-minute dining experience brings diners from different backgrounds together to enjoy a city's public space.

According to Diner en Blanc, the effort was launched with just a handful of people more than 20 years ago. The group now boasts entertaining nearly 15,000 people each year.

It was a gloomy Sunday as the whole area remain socked in with low clouds & fog, drizzle and scattered showers.

The weather remains unsettled through most of the work week. The difference is that it will really warm up -- temperatures soar into the 80s by Tuesday.  That mild and humid air mass will fuel afternoon thunderstorms.

By Thursday a cold front moves by bringing more rain.  It will also bring drier and cooler weather by Friday as we finally clear out.
