Bucks County Woman's New Furniture Vanishes

BENSALEM, Pa. -

"I pay like $800." Josephine Harmon is a hard working woman who just wanted a nice bedroom set for her children and her 70-year-old mother to sleep on.

But her dream of making her family comfortable turned into a nightmare.

"My mom sleeps on the floor, my children sleep on the floor." Harmon said.

It all started when she bought an $800 bedroom set at the Impact Thrift Store.

A friend used a pickup truck to help her transport it home.

As they drove down Street Road, Bensalem Police pulled the truck over saying it had been reported stolen. The truck was towed and stored at this lot until police could unravel the situation.

When Josephine went to retrieve her furniture: "I went there, the furniture is gone," she explained.

Josephine asked Fox 29 to help, so we went to the tow company.

An employee said the truck was picked up by a woman from Philadelphia. They knew nothing about the furniture. Bensalem

Police say the furniture isn't at their impound lot and they gave permission for the driver of the pickup to get the furniture back in May, but there's no record of anyone ever picking it up. Or what happened to it.

"My furniture is in the police possession," Harmon said. "They told me to come and get it."

Now, the whereabouts of her $800 bedroom set is a mystery. Police say they don't have it. The tow lot says it doesn't have it and the current owner of the truck told Fox 29 she doesn't know anything about it.

"I hope that they go through this investigation and be able to return my furniture to me or pay the value for it," Harmon said.
