Mind Your Manners On The Beach This Weekend

Posted: Updated:

The beach is the best place to be during the hot days of summer. And there's still some time left to get your tan on.

But catching some rays can also be a miserable experience if you or your neighbors don't observe some proper beach etiquette.

From the extreme partiers to the people who think the beach is a smoke shop, there are many characters out there who've clearly not grasped the concept of beach etiquette.

Modern manners guy Richie Frieman says to remember you're sharing the beach.

You don't own it.

"So, a lot of my readers especially this month and last month on the Modern Manners Facebook page have posted comments regarding beach etiquette. And the one big thing I tell them is, 'You don't own the beach. Your taste in music is not the taste that everybody is going to have, so don't blare it very loud. And also that pickup game of Frisbee and football are not really working with the rest of the people at the beach. So, if you're going to do anything wild or crazy or have a party, do it a little bit away from the rest of the crowd and understand that the beach is public. So, unless you are Sir Richard Branson and you can afford to have your own private island, the beach is supposed to be shared with other people. So, just remember that for the next time you go.'"

Labor Day weekend is considered the last big beach weekend of the summer.
