Correctional Officer Charged With Having Sex With Inmate

NEW CASTLE, Del. -
Delaware State Police say a correctional officer has been arrested after a female inmate at the Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution reported having sexual relations with him.
According to state police, the 23-year-old inmate reported she had sexual relations with 40-year-old Larry R. Clinkscale, a correctional officer assigned to the New Castle facility.
Investigators say the inmate reported she was propositioned for sex by Clinkscale between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Monday, when she was assigned to clean the floors within the facility. The inmate says she was told to go to a staff restroom, where the two entered a nearby closet.
State police were contacted by the Department of Correction Internal Affairs Investigators about the incident.
Clinkscale, of Bear, Del., was charged with sexual relations in a detention facility, arraigned and released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
