Autopsy Completed On Woman Found In Field

NEW HANOVER TWP., Pa. -

An autopsy has been done on a woman whose partially decomposed body was found in a remote field on a rural Montgomery County family farm.

The still unidentified woman in her 20s was found by a farmer cutting hay just before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

New Hanover Township Police and Montgomery County detectives spent the day searching the field for evidence.

Deb and Martin Slater who own the property where the body was found were stunned as they watched investigators comb the fields for clues for more than nine hours.

"Obviously I'm upset. I'm a little shaken here," said Deb Slater, who saw the body just after it was found by her father in-law.

The couple huddled near the scene with their 11-year-old daughter trying to explain what happened.

"We try to reinforce her to be very careful. Who you come in contact. Who you meet," said Martin Slater.

Detectives have not said how the woman died or how she ended up in the field located about 200 yards off of Little Road in New Hanover Township. But investigators found tire tracks leading up to where the body was found.

"You wish you could have prevented it in some way. Did I hear anything? You think back over the couple hours you discover something like this that's all you think about" said Deb Slater.
Residents of this quiet community were also surprised to hear the news.

"You think it's safe, it's the country. But it's kind of scary" said Kim MacLachlin of Douglasville.

Police are urging anyone with information on the case to call New Hanover Police or Montgomery County detectives.
