Burglar Used Mail Slot To Pull Off $56K Theft, Police Say

PHILADELPHIA -

Philadelphia Police are looking for a man investigators say removed the mail slot of a home, reached in to unlock the door and then stole $56,000 worth of jewelry, electronics and antiques.

According to police, the burglary took place at a home one the 2000 block of Kater Street, just south of South Street, on Aug. 18 at 11 p.m.

Police say the man ransacked the front bedroom of the home after getting through the front door.

The man then took off in an unknown direction.

Police have released surveillance video of the man walking in the area. He is described by police as a black male with a baseball cap and white t-shirt with blue jeans.
