The Philadelphia District Attorney's office has confirmed that charges against five juveniles connected to the July rape of a 12-year-old girl in a Southwest Philadelphia Rec Center have been withdrawn.
The DA's office said they simply did not have enough evidence to go to trial.
It was back on July 16th, that the girl told police she was sexually assaulted at the Myers Rec Center at 58th and Kingsessing in Southwest Philadelphia.
The 12-year old told police that the group of boys attacked her on a stairwell in the building. There was a basketball clinic going on at the time and adults rushed in when they saw boys running out of the building.
Within days, police had five boys, ranging in age from 14 to 15, under arrest for the alleged attack.

Rain moved in Saturday afternoon and the chance for it will stick around through the seven day forecast.
It becomes very unsettled across our area with clounds and showers again Sunday. The best chance for rain is in the morning and afternoon thunderstorms are possible towards our south.
Sunday is cool but we do warm up well into the 80s by Tuesday. With the warm weather comes a better chance for thunderstorms.
