Jay-Z Brings Down House He Built At 'Made In America'

PHILADELPHIA -

Night one of Philadelphia's historic Made in America music festival is in the history books with tens of thousands of participants catching more than a dozen acts, leading up to iconic rap megastar Jay-Z who brought down the very house he built.

Jay-Z is the curator of the festival, which ushers in a wide range of acts from electro-pop college-aged favorites Passion Pit, to blues legend Gary Clark Jr.

Guest superstars like Kanye West joined Jay-Z on stage, with many in the crowd pointing to sightings of their significant others (reality star Kim Kardashian and singer Beyonce respectively.)

About 50,000 people were expected at the first night, and that posed a challenge for police when it came to crowd control. However as of 11pm Saturday night only one arrest was reported.

The department's top brass including Commissioner Charles Ramsey were on hand monitoring patrols. Ramsey said he was pleased with the security presence at the event. However, the Fraternal Order of Police had manpower concerns going into the event.

Officials there reported a late 35 percent reduction in staff assigned to cover the concerts.

Several officers say they were told to stay home so the city could save money by cutting overtime.

However, Mayor Michael Nutter's office would not reveal the exact number of police on hand for the Labor Day Weekend event.

A spokesperson would only say they have a comprehensive plan in place which includes everything from bike patrol officers to SWAT teams if needed.

Sunday is the final night of the festival with grunge legends Pearl Jam headlining the show.
