Strange Animal On The Loose In Chester County

Posted: Updated:
PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. -

A strange animal is on the loose in Phoenixville, Chester County and residents tell Fox 29 they haven't a clue as to what it is.

Residents in the area say they have seen the animal, which resembles a dog or a fox, numerous times running around different neighborhoods.

We even asked you what you thought it was on our Fox 29 Facebook page, where we received more than 300 comments. We heard everything from a type of coyote to a sick dog.

Residents in Phoenixville say they have called police, but officers have told them they're not sure what the animal is either.

Those who have seen it tell us it doesn't bark, rather it makes more of a whine-type sound.

The Diamond Rock Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic says it's currently treating about 25 foxes with mange. The clinic says it's not able to get the animal unless it appears to be seriously injured.

Neighbors who have seen the animal near their property can however pick up medication to leave for the animal so it can be treated.
